HOW TO PROVIDE THE REALISTIC LOOK OF DENTAL LAMINATES?
in General, Porcelain Laminate
How realistic dental laminate will look depends on the production and application methods.
- A) PRODUCTION METHODS
Generally, 3 different methods are used in the production of laminates. The production method directly affects the appearance of laminates. You can get information from your dentist about how your veneers will be produced and how they will look.
Traditional Ceramic
In this method, ceramics with different color and permeability properties are combined with hand workmanship and turned into coating. When the craftsmanship is good, traditional ceramic veneers are very aesthetically pleasing.
Pressed Ceramic with Heat
In this method, porcelain is first melted and then pressed in a mold. The disadvantage of this method is that only one color of porcelain can be used. Since different parts of the teeth have different color tones and permeability properties, this causes the coatings not to approach the natural tooth appearance. On the other hand, a more natural appearance can be obtained with additional methods such as applying colored glaze and replacing certain parts of the coatings with lightly painted porcelain. Especially the second method provides a very realistic view.
Processed Ceramic
In this method, a large number of veneers can be produced from a single colored synthetic porcelain block using computer aided design and production technology. As in the previous method, monochromaticity creates a problem in terms of the naturalness of the image. In this method, the appearance of the coatings can be made more natural by applying colored glaze. However, this method is the most difficult to produce coatings that look very natural.
- B) APPLICATION METHODS
In addition to the traditional application method we mentioned earlier, there are also ultra-thin laminates that can be placed without any abrasion. However, it is easier to obtain a natural and aesthetic appearance in the traditional laminate application method. You can get detailed information from your dentist about the advantages and disadvantages of different methods.
