WHAT SHOULD YOU DO IF YOU FEEL STRANGE ABOUT YOUR DENTAL LAMINATE TOOTH?
in General, Porcelain Laminate
Most emergencies involving porcelain laminates are related to breaks or splitting.
Fractures: Breaking, cracking, etc. of the dental laminate.
Separations: Separation of the dental laminate from the tooth it is attached to (usually in one piece).
If you feel strange about your tooth, the first thing you need to do is determine which of the above situations is in question.
1) IS YOUR DENTAL LAMINATE STILL IN ONE PIECE?
Carefully remove the piece from your mouth without causing further damage.
If you found only one piece and the piece looks big enough, your dental laminate may not be broken, just detached from your tooth. If this is the case, your dentist can reattach the laminate.
Check the general shape of your laminate to see if it is in one piece. One-piece laminates usually have rounded lines and are highly symmetrical. Your laminate should look exactly like a tooth when viewed from its glossy surface. You can also examine the tooth from which the laminate was separated. You can see that the broken parts of the laminate are still stuck to your tooth. (If this is the case, be careful. Such porcelain pieces can hurt your tongue and lips.) If it is in one piece, you can save your dental laminate by taking your dental laminate carefully to your dentist to avoid the cost of a replacement. Wrap your dental laminate in toilet paper and place in a hard container such as a medicine bottle.
If your laminate is broken, the only thing your dentist can do is to prepare a new one.
2) TELL YOUR DENTIST OF YOUR PROBLEM
Contact your dentist and explain what happened. Your dentist will give you an appointment time to determine exactly what happened.
3) TIME TO APPOINTMENT
YOUR TOOTH WILL POSSIBLY GOOD
In dental laminate application, a very small amount of abrasion is usually made from the tooth surface. If this is the case with you, it is unlikely that your tooth will have any major problems until your appointment. In many dental laminate applications, temporary coatings are not used, the teeth are left in this way during the 1-2 week period during which the laminates are prepared. Have peace of mind.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPERIENCE?
Your teeth may become more sensitive to hot and cold foods / drinks.
Your tooth can hurt / irritate your tongue and lips. (Especially if your laminate is broken and some parts are stuck to your teeth.
So be careful.
TEMPORARY SOLUTIONS FOR THESE PROBLEMS
White braces candles are available in some pharmacies. (These are often used to cover the sharp parts of the braces.)
Apply a small thin layer of braces wax on your teeth. Do not prevent it from getting between your teeth, this makes it easier for the braces wax to stay in place.
4) YOUR APPOINTMENT
If some of your dental laminate is still stuck on your tooth, they will be cleaned. This procedure is painless and takes a very short time.
