Insufficient bone does not automatically mean that implant treatment is impossible. The shape of the bone loss, its horizontal and vertical amount, the anatomical structures and the requirements of the prosthesis to be made are assessed. In some cases small augmentations can be carried out in the same session as the implant; with advanced loss, a graft may need to be applied first and healing awaited. In the posterior upper jaw, the vertical bone can be limited because of the sinus cavity. In selected cases in this region, sinüs tabanı yükseltme (sinus lift) methods may be considered.
