An immediat (immediate) implant is the placement of the implant into the extraction socket in the same session, after the tooth is extracted. Immediat loading, on the other hand, refers to attaching a prosthesis on top of the implant within a very short time. An implant can be placed on the same day as the extraction and left unloaded; or an implant placed into previously healed bone can be loaded early under suitable conditions. This distinction is important so that patients understand their treatment plan more accurately. "Implant on the same day" and "teeth on the same day" are not the same concept.
